Umbraco 13 has been in the security phase since 14 December 2025 and definitively reaches end-of-life on 14 December 2026. The current LTS, Umbraco 17, is supported until 27 November 2028. No. The new site is built and tested alongside the existing one; only at the moment of switching is there a short content freeze for the editors. Visitors won't notice the transition.

From any Umbraco version to LTS 17

Umbraco

Umbraco 17 has been the current LTS version since 27 November 2025. It runs on .NET 10 and receives bug and security fixes until 27 November 2028.

If you're still on 8, 10 or 13, your starting point is more concrete than it often feels:

Umbraco 8 — end-of-life since 24 February 2025. No more security patches.
Umbraco 10 — end-of-life since 16 June 2025. No more security patches.
Umbraco 13 — end-of-life on 14 December 2026. In the security phase since 14 December 2025: security patches only, no bug fixes.

A route from every version

We migrate Umbraco sites from any version to 17. The approach differs per starting point, but the steps are always the same:

Inventory — which version, which packages, how much custom code and which integrations?
Migration plan — what moves over, what gets rebuilt, what can go. With a fixed end date.
Schema and content — document types and datatypes are set up fresh where needed; content moves over in a controlled way.
Custom code — property editors and backoffice extensions are rebuilt on the new backoffice (without AngularJS).
QA and go-live — alongside the existing site, with a short content freeze at the moment of switching.

Why now?

The further your starting point is from the current LTS, the bigger the step — and the more expensive the waiting. A migration planned now is smaller, more predictable and cheaper than the same migration two years from now.

For sites on Umbraco 13, 14 December 2026 is the hard date: after that, no more security patches will be released for that version.
